Amsterdam Bobber Apparel

The locals call it Mokum, a word rooted in the city's old Jewish quarter and meaning nothing less than safe haven. That idea - a place you come back to - sits at the center of Dutch two-wheeled culture. Every June riders cross the flat polder roads from Belgium, Germany, and the UK to reach Assen, 180 kilometers north, where the circuit known as The Cathedral has been running motorcycle racing since 1925. They come through Amsterdam on the way. This collection is cut for that journey: the cobblestone canal streets, the gabled skyline, the three heraldic crosses that have marked this city since 1350. Original Amsterdam biker shirts, printed on heavyweight ring-spun cotton, shipped to riders in over 70 countries.

The Lion of Mokum and Three Crosses

Riders who make the Assen run know the flat polder roads and the canal streets they thread through to get there. That is the ground this design stands on. The mascot is the rampant Lion of Mokum, claws up, drawn raw for a garage wall and not a town hall stamp. Around it sits the canal ring: a brick arched bridge, the narrow gabled houses leaning over dark water, a windmill out on the flat horizon. The three XXX crosses ride the chest as a bold standalone icon, the mark every Amsterdammer knows on sight and every visiting rider clocks. The banner closes on Mokum, the name locals give their own city. This is the mark you wear on the road, and it earns its place there.

Materials & Who It's For

This one was made for three kinds of riders: the Dutch expat keeping national pride alive from wherever they landed, the traveler whose European loop brought them through those gabled canal streets, and the classic motorcycle enthusiast who has made the Assen TT pilgrimage at least once and counts it among the best days on a bike. Tees are heavyweight 5.3oz ring-spun cotton, side-seamed and pre-shrunk. Hoodies are 8.0oz cotton-poly fleece with double-needle stitching at the stress points. Caps use raised embroidery on a structured six-panel. Every piece is checked by hand before it ships and tracked to your door in over 70 countries.
