Come off the Mother Road after a week in the saddle and the eagle overhead needs no explanation. Power and open sky, the same thing that pulls half a million bikes into the Black Hills every August and packs Daytona Beach in March. So the eagle is the mark on this collection: wings spread wide, white head catching the light, talons open, drawn angular the way it looks in the air rather than stamped on a document. The freedom bird riders have run on tank art and rally patches for as long as anyone has built bikes by hand. The banner carries 'The Mother Road', still the right name for the run coast to coast.
