The Grand Strand - all 60 miles of it - belongs to riders twice a year, spring and fall, with Murrells Inlet waiting a short run south for the after-ride meal. Picture the strip at rally time: motorcycles packed nose-in along Ocean Boulevard, the Atlantic flat behind them, a Ferris wheel lit on the boardwalk at dusk. That is the scene this collection is built around, and the mark you wear is the palmetto standing over it. We drew it tall and clean, single trunk and full crown, the crescent riding high beside it, the pairing every South Carolina rider clocks on sight. It doubles as a beach-and-riding marker that needs no caption. A Carolina wren sits low in the frame for the crew from the state who catch their own state bird. The banner reads 'The Grand Strand', the words riders use when they point the wheel south for the May run or the fall one and mean Myrtle Beach.
