Groningen Bobber Apparel
Leave Groningen heading south on the N33 and the land opens flat in every direction - straight polder roads, canals running parallel, and a sky so wide the horizon looks like a painter put it there. Twenty-five kilometres down sits TT Circuit Assen, what motorcycle fans call 'The Cathedral', hosting Dutch TT racing since 1925. Groningen is where you bed down the night before, where the city hums with 50,000 students and a long history of doing things its own way. This collection is cut for the northern Dutch rider who knows both the quiet of the flat road and the noise of race day. Original Groningen biker shirts, printed on heavyweight ring-spun cotton, shipped to riders in over 70 countries.
D'Olle Grieze and the Metropolis of the North
Every ride back into Groningen ends the same way - you catch the tower first. The Martinitoren stacks sharp above the rooftops on the Grote Markt, and that grey Gothic silhouette is the mascot on this gear. Locals call it d'Olle Grieze, the Old Grey One, for the colour the stone takes on a cold northern morning. We drew it as a bold vertical shape, the way it looks when you roll in off the flat roads, and set it against the polder stretching to the horizon under a wide sky. Groningers call their city the Metropolis van het Noorden, the Metropolis of the North, with a pride that's half genuine and half a jab at everyone south of the IJsselmeer. That's the attitude this design rides on - hometown for the Groninger, real northern Dutch culture to everyone else.
Materials & Who It's For
This one lands for the Groningen native or university alumnus who carries the city with them, the northern Dutch rider who owns those flat roads, and the TT pilgrim who staged in the city before race day at Assen. It reads as hometown pride to a Groninger and a real piece of northern Dutch culture to everyone else. Tees are heavyweight 5.3oz ring-spun cotton, side-seamed and pre-shrunk. Hoodies are 8.0oz cotton-poly fleece with double-needle stitching at the stress points. Caps use raised embroidery on a structured six-panel. Every piece is checked by hand before it ships and tracked to your door in over 70 countries.
