We drew it crouched on a desert boulder, tail ringed black and white and curled up high, the copper-star sunburst off the state flag behind it, 'Copper State' set underneath. Wear it for the desert run, the Scottsdale rally, or the gravel lot at the trailhead where the crew meets.

Ride Arizona long enough and the 89A corridor between Jerome and Sedona gets into your blood: the canyon walls, the red dirt, the Sonoran cactus flats past Scottsdale where the spring rally fills the lots. The ringtail lives in exactly that rock, nocturnal and quick, and the state named it its official mammal. Almost no rider has this on their chest. That is what makes the mark land.
