In Lahti, an old industrial building holds Finland's only dedicated motorcycle museum - 100-plus restored machines under one roof, Ace Cafe out front, pilgrims riding in from every corner of the country. Come winter, the same riders bolt spiked tires to their bikes and hit the frozen lakes, a flat-out tradition no other country in Europe has matched. Come summer, the boreal forest opens up: dead-straight roads through dense spruce, a lake glinting in the gap, the whole route yours alone. This collection is cut for that kind of riding. Otso - the Bear With Too Many Names

Picture the ride first: a spiked-tire racer carving a hard left across a frozen Finnish lake, the spruce corridor of the lake district behind, the museum facade in Lahti where the season kicks off. Over all of it sits the mark you wear, the Finnish brown bear, otso, karhu. The old Finns held it in so much respect they used over 200 names rather than speak the real one aloud, and it still stands as king of the forest in Finnish tradition. We drew it front-facing, dense winter coat, the powerful silhouette from the Kalevala, stripped of any cartoon softness. Finland runs roughly 2,000 brown bears, one of the highest densities in Europe. The bear earned its place on the back, and so did the ride around it.

Materials & Who It's For

This one is built for three kinds of rider: the Finn who wants their national animal on their back without a tourist-shop logo in the way, the Scandinavian or Nordic touring rider who has done a Finland leg and wants to mark it properly, and the adventure rider who completed a boreal forest run and needs something better than a gas-station souvenir. Tees are heavyweight 5.3oz ring-spun cotton, side-seamed and pre-shrunk. Hoodies are 8.0oz cotton-poly fleece with double-needle stitching at the stress points. Caps use raised embroidery on a structured six-panel. Every piece is checked by hand before it ships and tracked to your door in over 70 countries.
