Bradgate Park opens up on your left, bracken and ancient rock, the ruined Old John tower on the ridge watching traffic on the lane below. This is where Leicester riders go when they need tarmac that bends, followed by a pint at the Bradgate Arms or the Griffin Inn. Every piece here rides on one mark: the Leicestershire red fox, alert, ears up, one paw raised, brush tail out. Richard III on the hem, the king dug out of a Leicester car park in 2012 and reinterred at the cathedral three years later. The ribbon carries one word, 'Cek', the way Leicester English flips the vowel and makes the greeting its own.
